The service

Why migrate to Azure?

Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 ended support in October 2023, SQL Server 2016 on July 14, 2026 and Windows Server 2016 reaches the end of extended support on January 12, 2027. Azure lets you modernize those workloads with built-in patching and backup.

TUTARI runs discovery and assessment, designs the landing zone (network, identity, security and governance), migrates in waves and leaves operations ready, using benefits such as Azure Hybrid Benefit.

  • Discovery and assessment of dependencies and costs with Azure Migrate
  • Landing zone with network, identity, security and governance defined
  • Migration in waves with testing, change windows and a rollback plan
  • Cost optimization with Azure Hybrid Benefit and reservations
Scope

What the migration includes

Discovery and assessment

Inventory of servers, dependencies, performance and estimated cost with Azure Migrate.

Landing zone

Network, identity, security and governance defined before moving the first workload.

Server migration

Rehosting of virtual machines with continuous replication and a short cutover window.

Databases

SQL Server to Azure SQL or virtual machines with Azure Database Migration Service.

Security and backup

Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Backup and Site Recovery from day one.

Cost control

Right-sizing, Azure Hybrid Benefit and reservations to avoid overspend.

Methodology

How we work with you

A clear process from assessment to operations, with a single accountable team.

1

Assessment

We discover servers and dependencies, and estimate costs and effort.

2

Design

We define the landing zone, the network model and the migration waves.

3

Migration in waves

We replicate, test and cut over in coordinated windows, with rollback.

4

Optimization

We tune sizes, costs and security, and hand over operations.

Scenarios

Migration scenarios

Unsupported Windows servers

Replace unpatched versions with up-to-date platforms.

SQL Server to the cloud

Modernize databases with built-in high availability and backup.

Leaving the data center

Reduce hardware, power and maintenance of owned infrastructure.

Disaster recovery

Replicate critical workloads to Azure to recover them after a failure.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about migrating to Azure

Answers to the most common questions about our services

What is Azure Migrate?

It is Microsoft's hub to discover, assess and migrate servers, databases and applications to Azure, with cost estimates and dependency analysis.

What should I do about Windows Server 2012?

It ended support on October 10, 2023. Moving it to a supported version or to Azure avoids running without security patches.

How much will it cost in Azure?

It depends on size and usage. Azure Hybrid Benefit lets you reuse Windows Server and SQL Server licenses with Software Assurance. TUTARI estimates the cost before migrating.

How do you avoid a long outage?

With continuous replication and prior testing, the cutover is reduced to a short coordinated window, with a rollback plan.
